A historically significant textile discovered in the peaty soil of Glen Affric during forestry work in the 1980s. The Scottish Tartans Authority commissioned scientific dye analysis and carbon dating — results confirm 16th century provenance (reign of James V, Mary Queen of Scots or James VI). First publicly displayed at Tartan by V&A Dundee, April 2023. Reconstructed by the STA based on red, yellow, green and brown shades identified in testing.
